He is a leader in the field of non-surgical podiatric orthopaedics and is one of multidisciplinary sports medicines most experienced physicians.

With an extensive career sports medicine he has served various athletic teams, franchises and organizations providing foot and ankle care to recreational, intercollegiate and professional athletes.

Dr. Liebeskind is duel credentialed in sports medicine. He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Podiatric Sports Medicine and holds Board Certification in Podiatric Sports Medicine by the American Board of Multiple Specialties in Podiatry.

As a member of the House of Delegates to the American Board of Multiple Specialties in Podiatry, Dr. Liebeskind serves in an advisory capacity to its Board of Directors on athletic medicine related matters of regional, national and international significance.

Howard was recently granted MD-Affiliate status in the nearly 4,000 member American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine. He is the first podiatric sports medicine specialist to be so honored.

His career in athletic medicine began in earnest when he became team podiatrist for the Los Angeles Clippers and Pepperdine University in 1984.

Throughout his career in sports medicine, Dr. Liebeskind has worked with intercollegiate, professional and international sports teams in various positions and affiliations, including team podiatrist to the Los Angeles Kings of the National League, the UCLA Department of Athletics (Pac-12 Conference), Chivas USA (Major League Soccer), Los Angeles Sol (Women’s Professional Soccer), Los Angeles Riptide (Major League Lacrosse), Los Angeles Avengers (Arena Football League) and USA Men’s Field Hockey.

In addition to the high-caliber teams and associations Liebeskind has worked with, Howard has served as liaison and podiatric consultant to the annual International Champions Cup, serving Chelsea F.C., F.C. Internazionale Milano, Real Madrid F.C. and Manchester United F.C. during their respective pre-season North American tours from 2005 through 2018.

Dr. Liebeskind has also consulted for other professional associations including the Los Angeles Ballet and Cirque du Soleil.

As a result of his longtime participation in professional and international football/soccer, Dr. Liebeskind has become the world’s longest tenured “football podiatrist” having formally served the soccer community continuously for more than 35 years.

Currently, Dr. Liebeskind is team podiatrist to the Los Angeles Lakers, Los Angeles Football Club, Los Angeles Galaxy, Pepperdine University Athletic and the United States Men’s and Women’s National Soccer Teams. He has worked continuously with the United States Soccer Federation for twenty-eight years and has also served on its Medical Advisory Board.
