I want to show you several of my YouTube videos today that I send to my patients following appropriate timing in their treatment of posterior tibial tendon problems.
This first one is a simple review of anatomy for the non-podiatrists out there reading my blog post this morning.
Posterior Tibial Tendon Dysfunction This video shows the gait of significant heel valgus in a posterior tibial tendon dysfunction. She is being evaluated for custom orthotics vs. Richie Brace or Arizona Braces, with many times a combination of these are used for different activities.
Posterior Tibial Tendon Dysfunction: Muscle Testing of Involved Tendons This is simple review of separating out your muscle testing for the posterior tibial tendon versus the anterior tibial and long flexors
Posterior Tibial Taping Technique This is the first of two posterior tibial taping techniques that can help either during the healing phases of the injury or benefit with certain activities
How to Tape the Posterior Tibial Tendon: Ask The Podiatrist Segment #1 This is the most powerful posterior tibial taping with Leukotape
How to Strengthen the Posterior Tibial Tendon: Ask The Podiatrist Segment 2 This is a long breakdown of strengthening exercises for an injured or weak posterior tibial tendon
I will finish with a patient with posterior tibial tendon dysfunction corrected by orthotic devices. I am sorry the numbers of inversion do not match up with the RX of KevinRoot Medical but equivalent to 25 degree inverted technique, 3 mm medial heel skive, 25 mm heel cups, 5 mm polypropylene, wide width, zero degree extrinsic rearfoot post 55 durometer EVA, and 2 mm extrinsic forefoot and rearfoot varus wedging. You can see that the shoe was even wedged in varus in the midsole. Posterior Tibial Tendon Dysfunction with Correction
Next week there will be more discussion of this troublesome problem.
