This simple article, here presented only as an abstract, draws the connection between achilles problems and medial instability or over pronation in the foot. This concept was first presented by Dr. Steven Subotnick in the 1970s. When there is over pronation, there is less proper stacking up of the patient, and the achilles functions in a twisted position and mechanically disadvantaged. They introduce the concept of “Zone of Conflict”, where the malalignment goes far enough to finally create a problem, but it is not explained further in the abstract. They do not present treatment successes, but simply want to say that there is a correlation with over pronation to achilles tendonitis.
