The following video is a summary of the basics aspects a Podiatrist should look for in their Gait Evaluation. This process should point the clinician towards problems with over pronation tendencies, over supination problems, weak or tight muscles, limb length discrepancies, and other instabilities. I always love to watch a patient walk with and without their shoes, and at times bringing into the visit multiple types of shoes. Probably the basic question: Are they stable? And if not: Where does their instability lie? As our professor Dr Harry Hlavac taught our class: Go to the mall and watch as many people walk as possible. You will begin to see various problems. Please refer to the separate post entitled: Gait Evaluation Checklist. Have Fun! Rich
